One of the key pieces to successful web customer service and support that I emphasize a lot is how effective video tutorials can be for your customers. When a customer first starts using a new product and they run into difficulties many will usually first try to solve the problem themselves. If they can’t solve the problem some will just resort to return the product or discontinue the service. The best resource you can provide customers to prevent this from happening is to have video tutorials available to them because it clearly shows the customers what they need to do.

Great points on video tutorials, Jason! I'd add that since the customer is looking for help using whatever it is they've already bought, please resist the temptation to put a commercial Before the tutorial. If you feel you have to advertise, put it at the end "where no one will watch it" (har har).

The commercials before the videos are one of my biggest bug-a-boo's ever with videos online. I just don't see the need for them and they actually cause more people to leave instead of watch the video!
