Larger businesses should consider integrating established promotional activities such as email marketing with TV advertising, it has been claimed. The Direct Marketing Association (DMA) encourages firms to combine online advertising strategies such as email marketing, with direct mail and television advertising.

I think some big parts of this equation that are almost never discussed are targeted marketing and permission marketing. These have to do less with the medium you use than with whether the recipient really wants to receive the information you're sending. A great example of this is the old business strategy used for newspapers. So long as customers wished to receive newspapers home delivered, they were, of course, giving permission for the sending of advertising materials into their homes. Those materials were also targeted because they were tailored to recipients of that newspaper for which demographics was readily available.
