In an effort to determine whether Groupon is in fact a raging buy or, as alternatively presented, on the verge of insolvency, I have undertaken an analysis of their latest S-1 , which was filed with the SEC on August 10, 2011. The document, which is required by all companies who want to file an initial public offering, comprehensively reviews its operations, long term viability, business risks (which are numerous) and its financial condition. Some of the more interesting discoveries, as they relate to the 6 months ending June 30, 2011, are presented below:

It really isn't that impressive, but thank you guys! There was a lot of hype about Groupon and I really wanted to see for myself what the real story was, so I just analyzed their financial filings.

I agree Yoni - I enjoyed it, but when I see math, tax, legal, or financial stuff, after a few moments all I hear is "Pop Goes The Weasel" in my head. I couldn't leave an intelligent comment (that's usually why I don't comment on something that's very well done - I'm completely outta my depth).

Hi Ronika,

I was away when you posted this and just found it. VERY impressive! Wow, you really did your homework on this one. I have a math disability, so whenever I see something like this, my level of admiration shoots really high!

Great job!

I guess it's why I started off at community college before going to a four-year school. All of the four-years looked at my abominable math SAT scores and said "You have to at least be able to do things like 8563 divided by 233." So I said "No problem," and took out a calculator. Then they said, "Without a calculator." So I said "Shit."

I hate math!
