Some businesses, mostly bigger corporations, actually survive on the interest earned on their cash flow and not so much on the actual sales of products. For instance, imagine cash flow of 10 million, you get funds in advance from customers, and pay your suppliers 2 months post order processing. You have 3 months to earn interest on this cash, even though you may be selling your products virtually at cost.
