Even though it’s important to you to meet specific financial goals, your employer isn’t as worried about what you consider “needs.” Don't use your current financial situation and as reasons that you “deserve” a raise.

Before you ask for a raise, you need to see the offer from the other person’s perspective. For example, are you demanded a raise or are you suggesting that a raise is in line as you've worked so hard.
