A myringotomy is performed to improve hearing by creating a hole in the eardrum to allow the trapped fluid in the middle ear to drain out. It can be blood, pus or sometimes, water. In most cases, a small tube is inserted into the hole in the eardrum to help maintain drainage. Based on data available on the web, millions of people have some type of hearing loss that directly impacts communication, health, relationships, and even careers.
