I worked for a Fortune 500 years ago. I left in 2005 and they had a wonderful volunteering programme in DFW area, even back then.
I have a relative who works in another Fortune 500 company and she used to volunteer in schools and herself and her colleagues just loved it. They really got behind the volunteering and the company itself.
I've seen it in action and you're right - it does work. HR in all organisations would be advised to look at this as a method of engaging with employees.
Good article - and thanks for sharing on bizsugar.com (That's where I found you!).
Take care,
Denise
