Small businesses have been called the key to economic recovery. And recent numbers suggest they are meeting that challenge. The most recent data from the ADP suggests small businesses now employ 47.5 million Americans. That's more than they employed in 2007 before the recession began. Meanwhile, larger companies now employ 66.2 million in the U.S. That's more than small businesses to be sure, but still about two million below pre-recession levels.
