A few years ago I was introduced to Mind Maps. In this post I'd like to share some thoughts I have about where Mind Maps can be used effectively in business...

I use brainstorming a good bit and I concur with Fred, I love the idea of getting everyone to do and present their own mind map so as to get everyone involved. I've also watched a few episodes of the apprentice from time to time, while the standard often annoys me, I can really see how mind-maps would help the contestants and I'm surprised that no one has used them yet?

This interests me, Frank - I haven't tried this yet, but I might. I just make a list, or if it's complicated, an outline, but a Mind Map might work better in many cases. How do you think Mind Maps compare to lists or outlines?

For me Lists are limiting by the fact that they are linear. I used to be a Lists person, but I've found Mindmaps help me to generate more ideas and most importantly they help me see relationships between ideas.

I am also an addict of lists - they are very limiting. What I love about the Mind mapping idea in presentations, is that it's easy to go back to a point, and recap, without having to repeat a list.

A mindmap in my mind (excuse the pun) is diverse, evolving and manipulative in the moment - perfect for presenting or heading meetings :)
