Dagmar: How about the saying: the first generation of the family founded the business and built the platform, the second generation developed it, and the third generation sold it, or crashed it...

This is an interesting survey. I am from Germany. We have several well-known and successful family-owned businesses there. You can't generalize, but these businesses tend to have a more long-term orientation – which provides stability – and they tend to consider their employees as some sort of extended family. Many owners feel responsible their employees. You don’t find that very often anywhere else

I had worked for a very large and 100% family-owned business by myself. This was a great time. We could follow long-term strategies without caring for stock quotes and quarterly reports. In general, people there were much more committed to what they did than in other types of businesses.
