Sandy Pentland of MIT and his team discovered that great teams are built on communication. This seems to be common sense so how does the business owner create the environment that fosters good communication leading to high productivity?

Elli: As a sidenote: I love that you have used "tea breaks" in the post, instead of the common phrase, "coffee break"! I am a tea enthusiast! :)

I'm a big fan of tea myself. I also try to write for the audience. We'll have to have a virtual cuppa sometime! :)

Great pointers Elli,

It's so important to have the communications lines open, AND to use them! I am in the middle of a book by an English business man called Allan Leighton on Leadership - lots of great examples of how great leaders communicate with their managers, employees, and especially customers.

Well worth a look at. Great post Elli

Communication lines are easier to keep open than we think. A simple question like "how's it going?" can become either an update(easy accountability) or find out there is something going on in someone's personal life that will affect his/her performance.

And your book recommendation is very much appreciated! Thanks for commenting!
