I came across this interesting chart in an article by Todd Essig. It shows the mental state in terms of challenge level and skill level. (Almost as fascinating as 3D printing!)

Hi Anna - I loved it.

I'd add that when I'm 'in flow' (or 'in the zone', as they said in the '80's), I also definitely feel buzzed (one of the things that makes life worth living - that, and my Kitty). (Sometimes caffeine is involved.)

Buzzed, almost drugged - I was thinking the same! A great feeling. Duncan, do you know 3D printing? Maybe I'm the last one to hear about it, but I think it's soo cool: http://singularityhub.com/2011/06/27/3d-printers-are-taking-off-but-one-in-every-home-maybe-in-another-10-years/ or http://youtu.be/ZboxMsSz5Aw

saraib820 - my dog is awesome, too (and loves his daddy). He's always 'in the zone', but especially when he's watching TV (squirrels through the window). :)

Anna,

I would also guess that when a person is in the zone or flow, there are probably physiological parameters that can be measured by CT or MRI.

D-

Most animals are better than people. Non-judgemental. Don't hold grudges. Unconditional love. Right now I have two dogs on hand who are wondering where their daddy is and when he'll come home. Hoping for tomorrow :)
