Great perspective on why the group responsible for employing over half of the private sector employees is going to drag its feet bringing their employee levels back to 2007 marks. Small and medium-sized businesses are using more technology and demanding more productivity to help avoid the pain of having to lay off their friends…AGAIN!

I suspect there are many factors which may keep employment levels from rising even as the economy improves not least of which is the increased responsibilities in health care and other areas which may come with new employees and thus the increased overhead in a world where almost everything can be outsourced and subcontracted.
