Work-Life Balance For Workaholics

I have never read a post about work-life balance that convinced me I should find balance in my life... But lately, something changed. I want to learn to leave work at work when necessary. I think the key to that is understanding how our brain works; the left brain, right brain difference.

Anna,

Beautiful job. I ain't ever gonna get rich at my job which gives me a lot more emotional leeway on finding the right balance. I do tend to get a lot done but first come my wife, the dogs, walking and hiking around every morning and then getting down to work. After work it's a pint of Guinness and twice a week bowling with the boys. I have pity for workaholics, they are missing out on so much of life. Profits, income, productivity? There has to be more!

Really interesting analysis, Anna. I chose the path of self employment primarily to improve my work life balance, but, given that work is now an extension of me, in some ways this has become more difficult. We do need to step back and realize that there is so much more to life than work, and the time to enjoy it (as the fisherman tells us) is now.
