Adam: Thanks for your input! We will talk more about this in the near future. I am trying to "corner the market" for #NewPodcastApps on Twitter! ;) That search term is related to podcasting 2.0 and the value for value model.

All the Best,

Martin

Adam: Thanks for your input!

How easy / hard is it to cover a keyword like this: "podcasting 2.0" ?

On the surface, it looks relatively easy. And it looks like it is a keyword that gets searched for.

But there are other factors to consider as well. Such as links/referring domains, strength of competing pages, etc.

Also, understanding the intent behind these keywords/search queries is super important.

It's possible to go for easy keywords and fail to rank because Google is ranking content that is framed differently or is a different type of content.

For example, it'd be near impossible to rank the homepage of a SaaS social media scheduling tool for a keyword like "best social media scheduling tools" - because that query indicates that users are looking for a list, not a specific brand.

Some keywords serve as signposts - and the first page of results is designed to cater to multiple intents.

A good example of this is "WordPress landing pages" - this query used to rank only roundups of landing page plugins. Now, it's a signpost and includes roundups of plugins, themes, tutorials, and sometimes specific products.

Adam: Is Google Zeitgeist still around? Do you use Google Trends on a regular basis. Interesting to read about the email finder service, Hunter.

All the Best,

I've never looked into Google Zeitgeist. I don't use Google Trends regularly. It can be useful but I rely more on paid tools.

Google Trends becomes a lot more useful when validating business ideas or entering into a new niche/industry.
