Interesting tips. In general, deploying what I call buzz marketing can help businesses get attention that are otherwise boring. These are the tactics that generate buzz in the community and people talking. For example, controversial billboard, stuntmen promoting the product, etc.

Tabitha: Do you have any favorite "boring" companies that have used some lively marketing tips? My background is the manufacturing industry (welding) and that is "pretty boring"... ;)

I wouldn't necessarily call that a boring industry, but I see where you could have some difficulty creating engaging marketing ads or announcements. These aren't my favorite companies, but here are some of my favorite ads from companies people consider to be 'boring.'
