I like the following point very much:

"Blogging allows me to test out ideas - Iâ€™ve made some incredible discoveries about some of my ideas (okay, and had a few flops too) based on the immediate and sometimes passionate response from readers. Iâ€™m currently writing a book that reveals a business principle tested out here."

I totally agree with John about the value of writing a blog. Composing your thoughts into brief, coherent posts causes you to not only develop better writing skills, but you process the information more fully and retain more information in the long run.
