You have all probably met or even been a flirt at some time in your life.It can be no big deal if this happens in your social life, but in business it can waste a lot your time and money. What does a customer flirt typically do? Well, here are are a few examples:

You know, Susan, I think this can be a real challenge. I wish I could say I have hard and fast profiles for customers who are flirting versus those who truly want my service, but for even the generalities I might make I can point to prospects that fit into them but are now paying customers. On other occasions all the signs of interest seemed there and yet no sale. I think in the end the best answer is not to spend too much time on someone who isn't buying, period. Don't let yourself be fooled into the belief that they may buy someday. Actions speak louder than words.

Shawn, it can be a challenge and I think that it does become easier to pick the signs as you become more experienced. But it is not infallible because we are dealing with people and therefore emotions. Their attitudes and behavior can change due to circumstances.

Agree that actions speak louder than words.

One thing I think helps is actually being alert and I have found that just jotting down notes help or if you have web stats looking at the pathways can tell you a lot.
