Funny you mentioned the Goodyear Blimp. I grew up in Akron, Ohio - the former "Rubber Capital of the World" (when I was a kid). Blimps are made of rubber, one reason Goodyear got in on the act when lighter-than-air travel was still viable - before the "Oh the Humanity" tragedy of the Hindenburg in 1937. The blimps when I was a kid 50 years ago were at least twice as big as the "tiny" ones flying now. We used to see them flying around - the low hum of the engines alerted everyone they were in the area, and people would stand outside & watch them go by. In fact, I still see them flying - I live very near Akron. Still the low hum, too. The blimp dock, where they build 'em, has one of the most massive internal expanses anywhere in the world. Condensation forms high up inside (it's a big open space), and it "rains" inside.
