After reading Ivana Taylor's post, The Referral Engine: Teaching Your Business to Market Itself, I decided to start a new open thread meme post on Mondays. I joined a BNI (Business Network International) chapter in Gothenburg called Quality Hotel Panorama team on April 30. Please give your referrals in the comment section.

Liked your post a lot Martin.
I went to one meeting like BNI and I found there was an expectation that you should refer other members. This is okay if they are good but not if their services or products are unfortunately not of high quality or suitable for referrals.
How to you get around this with your group.

You are not forced to refer other members, but you should have them in mind when you think it could be an appropriate match. I am a new member, but I already have a a sense that BNI members are holding a high standard in general.
You have to go through a process that Ivan Misner calls V.C.P. (Visibility - Credibility - Profitability) Read his post, The VCP Process(R) of Relationship Networking. http://www.ecademy.com/node.php?id=101572
Have you read John Jantsch's post, The Confusing Opportunity of Referral? http://www.bizsugar.com/Marketing/the-confusing-opportunity-of-referral-duct-tape-marketing-/
