When we started Wood Street in 2002 (12 Years August 1st, thank you very much!), we based our web design on the client’s printed collateral. That was the norm.
Back then, online marketing was usually an afterthought. Companies would draft their yearly marketing budget and squeeze in a little extra at the end for a website.
Things have changed. Businesses today recognize the importance of the internet when considering their marketing plans.
According to a post in B2BMarketing.net, 54% of B2B buyers begin their buying process with informal research and 78% of the time it’s done online! And this number will keep growing.
To keep pace, businesses now think in shorter timeframes.

This is so true for B2B buyers in particular. I've seen some numbers, believe it or not, that consumers can still rely on word of mouth and even traditional media for things like brand recognition, even if they do take to the Web to research a product or service further. But it's an important thing to remember, especially if you're selling primarily to other businesses.
