Emotional appeal is always a good thing. Some marketing makes you want something. Great marketing, I believe, makes you feel that you can't do withou that particular thing.
I would be a bit hesitant though with new products when a company already has one that is successful. If the new product works out well...happy ending; if not, it can sabotage the original brand.
