Print newsletters should have died a long time ago... what with the internet and email. But a funny thing happened on the way to the funeral. The print newsletter suddenly became Lazarus and a resurrection took place.

Although I highly agree about the power of the printed word, I am not sure it needs to have the environmental impact of thousands of 4 pg newsletters. One thing though I freely admit: I get a much better response from clients and for clients when we use postcards or cards to acknowledge our customers than free email cards.

Good point on the environment. Think about this: If you DO send printed materials, you want it be effective and not a waste of our resources. The point: Mail only what works instead of doing a postcard/flyer version of an 'email blast'.

Great comment. I use social media and all that stuff as well. But direct response marketing is still king.

It's definitely too early to write off print. I'm definitely a fan of new media and use it primarily in business, but it's important to understand that other tools may also have a part to play.

Amen, Shawn. I use it all too. But print occupies a big place in my marketing... even driving offline to online.
