I’m all about cooperating, and I don’t just mean in the sense that your Mother taught you. Yes, it pays to play nice with your coworkers and business acquaintances, but what I’m really talking about is co-operating – operating alongside someone else or some other business in order to create amazing opportunities that you couldn’t have done on your own.

Sometimes this happens when two really small web design shop teams up with some other business services shops to share office space. This way two or three small companies can afford to have a board room, a lunch room, even a bathroom! And if the services are complementary, they can also share leads. In Syracuse, New York, there is an innovation center like this where start-ups can come and share in pooled resources (including mentors!) while they are getting their companies going.
