By the book, sales and marketing may be two different concepts, but one thing is for sure: they don’t exist independently from each other. Salespeople would have to start from scratch if their product was not marketed effectively to the target audience. In the same way, marketing would be pointless if there were no salespeople to close out purchases in the end. You could say, the two are individual, goal-driven players – but on the same team.
