When I was in high school I was on the wrestling team.

For four years I went to tournaments, put on spandex singlets, and logged a bunch of hours on big yellow school buses going to tournaments.

One night after a tournament I learned a lesson about risk that I’ll never forget. It’s one of those “please don’t do this at home” lessons that you look back on and ask yourself what the hell you were thinking.

The team and I had just pulled into the poorly lit parking lot in the 309 ft. long yellow bus. It was Friday night and we had just got back from a tournament a few cities over. Being in high school, some of us weren’t old enough to drive yet so we got off the bus and hopped in each others cars to head home (and drop people off along the way).
