You might say friends or family or high profile industry people perhaps. This could be true. Do you know for certain? It is a mistake to think that those who influence you must have influence on your customers.Influencers can be important in the different stages of the buying process.

Too close is a good way of expressing it. We sometimes think our customers think as we do which can lead to trouble.

This is so true! Sometimes the business is "too close" to actually see what's going on - they assume the customers are thinking along the same lines they are, but they might be way off the mark.
