Great points Eddie! People are allergic to spam and they simply HATE it. Purchasing email lists or sending emails to people out of the blue have never worked even at earlier times; and people are smarter these days, they can smell spam right away and one simple click marking an email as spam will get the job done!

This is why a double optin is pretty safe!

Personalization works great for me. When I receive emails in my inbox, when I see my name in the subject line I immediately feel a connection. So I don't hesitate to provide the same feeling to my subscribers as well :)
