Thanks for your comment. Great question -- I guess my definition of a viral video as "one that gets jillions of views on YouTube" isn't very scientific, is it? :-) On further reflection, I would say that truly viral content is content that delivers a large quantity of views, shares, etc., while the quality of that exposure, in terms of reaching your target audience, may or may not be there. Marketers who are "chasing the viral Holy Grail" are obsessing over getting in front of as many eyeballs as possible without consideration to how their activity will benefit them in the long run. Interesting discussion. To enlarge this a bit, what exactly is a viral video? In other words, how many views or how much does something need to be shared to make it viral? Some content is obviously more popular than other content. But the term viral is obviously relative. Love to hear your further thoughts on this in the comment section of the BizSugar community for the benefit of all our members.
