Really great post, Michelle.

I really agree with your last point: "Stop buying lists". I think that's the most horrible online marketing practice.

It's so much better to build your OWN list of subscribers. Not only will it lower the spam complaints, but your response and engagement rates will be much higher. So will your sales.
