Isn't this common sense? I am getting fad up with the spammy blogs out there and unrelated posts and links. But also with experts in the search engine field, that should be able to articulate their opinions in a better way... ;)

You got that RIGHT Susan! Guest posts SHOULD be about the CONTENT, the ideas you share to the world and not about the links you get from here and there. Guest posts are great ways to get links too but it's a better way to position yourself as an influencer! Personally, I prefer benefits of the latter. ;)

I'm not fazed with the fact that guest posts won't help with SEO. That's now how us smart marketers use it as a tool!

Thank you soooooo much for this post Susan. Writing guest posts should be about sharing your knowledge and building up your reputation as the expert in that field - whatever it is. Not about getting links in - and trying to sneak them past the editor then wondering why they were taken out!!! And thank you for translating (correctly in my eyes) the latest "decree" from Matt Cutts. The drinks are on me for whenever we finally meet :)
