#2 is very important. You have to be genuine and yourself in the online world. Delegating this responsibility to someone else can do damage to your online reputation.

I would also add that many business owners make the mistake of not engaging enough in the online world. They just think that establishing a profile on Facebook or Twitter is sufficient to reap the benefit of online. This is a big misconception.
