Except that DMOZ hasn't added a site in about a year, and in most categories it's been 5 or 6 years since there have been any major updates. DMOZ was once the golden goose, but now it has become stale and even if you could get your website listed, it (and its 313 copycats) don't carry a lot of weight anymore.

Check out Amabaie comment, it appears that DMOZ isn't as good as it use to be.
