Hi Scott. I think #2 is so simple yet so important. I've seen many blogs that are just so hard to read, and while different font and blog colors may be a novelty, obviously using the same format that has worked for newspapers, books and other kinds of printed material for years should be a no-brainer.

Making share buttons for social media networks like Facebook and Twitters are great to get more new readers if you have good content and people who reading it would like to share it with their friends but best way to made people come again on your blog is to create button for setting your blog as '' Home Page '' on readers main internet browser! :)
