Getting a custom URL (ie. web address) for Google+ has been around for a while. Have you been contemplating it? In this post I’d like to touch on why you should get one, how to get one, and what to do if you don’t like the URL you’re assigned.

Hi Martina,

Like you, I guess I’m struggling to see the downside here. Is there one? Google is offering another way for you to differentiate your online reputation. And given Google search remains one of the greatest arbiters of that reputation, this offer should be considered accordingly.

Agreed Heather – if Google offers something up, it’s generally a good idea to take them up on it. The only downside I can see at the moment is the fact that you can’t change your URL, so make sure that it’s something you really do want.
