Advice from successful campaigns can help industry newcomers tremendously. Recently, CNBC published an article that does just this: A crowdfunding veteran highlights the popular mistakes projects make. Appearing on this list – “Forgetting to ask for a donation.” At first, this may seem commonsensical, but in actuality, it makes perfect sense. So many projects focus on pitch and promotion that they neglect explicitly asking for funds. Although landing pages assume visitor contribution, content outside of a portal cannot rely on context to invoke a philanthropic response. This is why projects need strong crowdfunding call-to-actions.

Thanks for the tips and the blog itself as it's relevant to me.

I like the last tip regarding perks. At the moment, I have a crowdfunding page with a couple of perks. I plan on adding one or two more and leaving it at that.

I will have these best practices in mind, when I start my own crowdfunding campaigns for my tea books (one in English and one version in Swedish) and my "direct trade" tea business with fresh, high quality teas.
