Foreign investment in American companies could be rewarded with a US visa or even a green card, if the investment results in creation of at least 10 jobs for American workers. This story from CNN Small Business details a program already in place but set to expire at the end of September. Needless to say, a group of U.S. Senators is pushing to save it. The program is supposed to focus on investment in "distressed areas" but since Napa Valley wineries are on the list of possible investments, it clearly comes down to official designation. If you have a business in one of these designated spots you may want to consider looking for foreign investment under the program.
