When I bought my iPhone 3GS from the Molla (Apple) shop in Tirana, Albania, they assured me that they were an official Apple seller, and that the phone was unlocked and would work with any SIM or network in the world. But this did not prove to be true.

"Rocks in the Head" for reasons that are all too obvious. If I paid a grand for a phone that did that, I'd 've had a refund ASAP, and tried another brand (if I HAD to have a mobile phone - which I don't). For $1,000 the phone should sing me to sleep, not lock me out!

Thanks for your feedback. This whole process did make me feel a little silly. But while I was using the Motorola, I really missed my iPhone. The motorola battery died very quickly, and was a lot harder to use. I guess Apple has a unique product, which is why they can treat their customers badly, and create huge obstacles for international travellers like this. :)
