Too much reliance on any one technology probably isn't a great thing. That said, technologies like the combustion engine and the Internet are things plenty of folks (including businesses) trust without question. Have a resilient approach, be ready to evolve and watch trends. Also experiment with a new technology before deciding how much to rely upon it.
