It matters a lot!
News flash (please hold your groans):
Men are different than women.
Consider shopping. Many women enjoy doing it, seeing it as a form of entertainment or a social experience shared with like-minded, well, women. Men, on the other hand "tend to not enjoy the same shopping experience as a woman."

I like the part about making sure your eyes don't glaze over! Sometimes I get "jazzed" buying something fairly expensive if it's also really fun - like a new guitar (if you're like Haink Hill, it'd be a new tractor - or renting a BackHoe).
