Is Cold Calling Dead or Should It Still be Part of Your Sales Activity?

Do salespeople no longer need to make cold calls to arrange sales appointments with prospects? Is it true that cold calling is dead?

This varies dramatically from business to business. Should you call them or drop in, write them a mail or send them a text. You really need to decide this yourself. I believe that creating an effective "Elevator Statement" and simply making a call has the best impact in relation to the efficiency of cold calling.

Good input to the thread! It is all about the marketing mix. Personally, I don't like to make cold calls. As a certified networker, I am educated in the thinking of referral marketing (know - like - trust).

I think Cold Calling will never be dead, but there are smarter ways of prospecting.

The first clarity to be made is what is the definition of Cold Calling. Is it randomly knocking on every door of a building, or making fresh calls to a very strategic target list.

I believe the random cold calling is industry specific, although everybody can look at more efficient ways of building their pipeline.

Cold Calling on the phone needs to be done but again with Social Media and current contacts in the market we could be more creative.

Cold calling is not at all a bad way of marketing about our products and services. Sometimes we can convert our sale and atleast we can the consumer bebehavior.

I search the caller ID online, confirm whether it's sales or marketing rep from an unwanted company, and block the number :D
