You have a business and you are interested in hiring a manager who will be able to assist you in growing that business from the ground up. When you put out an ad for this position, you receive hundreds of resumes. Even if you narrow this bunch down to just the people who seem most qualified for the job, you're going to have to do quite a few interviews to make sure that you select the manager who is going to be most capable of growing your business. How do you know who that person is?

Ajay, this is a good post. The manager candidates should also be asked about how they would handle hypothetical situations. Many times we hire people based on objective criteria, what is on a resume'; but we fire people because they aren't making good decisions. This is a good topic.

Good post Ajay and I agree with the point in the Leadership skills that the manager must be able to delegate. Also you often see micro managing rather than leading and teaching others to one day take their place which is part of the skill set I think.

Great post! I think th most important trait is "optimistic attitude." Attitudes are contagious; they spread from person to person. I pessimistic in charge will "infect" all employees with negativity. Thanks for a great topic!
