Oops - I read this AFTER I'd just posted my "Six Ways to..." latest blog post. I think you are just more evolved as a blogger -- and hopefully we'll all get there. It seems that bloggers go through an obligatory initial phase of the "checklist" post titles till they start to bore THEMSELVES with the repetition, then they either quit or, out of necessity, start to get more creative. Thanks for the inspiration (and great title ideas!).

Unfortunately, you can pretty much blame social bookmarking sites for the "5 ways to..." thing. What might have been unique takes on a subject turn into one more list because it works. Headlines are crucial and pandering to listophelia (not sure that's a real word :) ) and 5 second attention spans gets clicks and votes.

Although, I reckon that Elizabethan headline might be a winner on Digg. You should write that article.

Thanks for your feedback! The content might be good, but to capture that "5-second attention span" as you so rightly call it, often a weird or out-of-the-ordinary headline is necessary!
