I am grateful that my parents do not have this " Parents know best " mentality. They just equipped me on how to make right decisions.

I am happy for you , Zion. It is not worth trying to impress others and trying to be someone else. I also grew up fighting against my parents wishes and I did not regret my decisions.

You grow up trying to impress your parents because you care for them. You can follow their own choices , their decisions , but forever left wondering about what if you follow yours. . . .

My parents used to tell me, " Go ahead, it's your life but don't say, we did not warn you". And I grew up fighting this uneasy feeling. I felt bad when I did not agree to everything they said.

No matter how much you love your parents , you can't spend your entire life considering their advice. Do not spend your life living for other people. You have dreams too. Just be prepared to take responsibility for your own choices and face whatever the consequences are.
