There is a movement afoot in American Little League Baseball. No more keeping score. Playing for fun in an atmosphere where everyone is declared 'winner."

It is a concept I have decided to take on in regards to my business articles and Social Media. Read my posts to enjoy them, but please, no more votes!

I'm looking forward to participating in a non-competitive environment!

Very touching and very unexpected folks. Now let's go to the baseball thing I spoke of.

I apologize Yoni, I have to be a rebel and vote on this one. If you look at my comment from a few weeks back, you'll see I caught on. "If a memo went out not to vote for Yoni I didn't get it".

Yonatan I saw the article last night and respected your wish not to vote but I'm going with the crowd and voting now. I noticed a while back when your votes were way down and seemed to spot a crowd that all stopped voting for you together. It would be nice to ask them what you did to piss them off so badly.

Yoni,

We're voting anyway. Next time we won't. It was quite obvious to many that you had developed 'leprosy'. This article should be read so I hope it goes to the front page.

Hi Yoni,

I can understand where you are coming from. People will vote for different reasons and I guess it is up to everyone to decide why and when they will vote, interact or comment. For some it is to show appreciation of the article for others it is to help themselves and friends for example.

People are quite savvy and know when the system is being swayed.

Oh, I should add that I don't care to be on a most-voted-for list, but I do have a competitive streak. If I think something is good enough to submit, whether it is my own writing or a discovery from someone else, I do want to see it get the exposure of the front page. I won't cry if it misses, but I do make an effort. Friendly to all, but still somewhat competitive.

I agree with CIK Marketing. I think the emphasis on Little League and here should be on how to be kind, friendly, magnanimus and helpful to everybody, both on your team and on the other side, within the context of the competition.

Yoni, CIK Marketing, Entrepreneurosaurus, Businessavante,

Couldn't have said any of this better myself. I think sometimes people vote for the BizSugar posts for similar reasons. The social aspects of social media are so important, but just as in anything else, it shouldn't turn into an obligation. Yes, CIK and Entrepreneurosaurus, there are winners and losers in real life. But relationships are not about winning and losing. The proper give and take makes you the winner every time.

Hi Yoni,

OK. Don't know how I feel about the Little League thing. Fact is, there are times you win and loose in life and learning how to do both is probably an important life lesson. In social media, I agree with you though. From my own limited experience, the give and take is much more important. This doesn't really mean you shouldn't vote for people, like on Digg, Reddit or whatever, or "like" other people's stuff if you're into that whole Facebook thang. I think it just means you shouldn't look at it as a competition. I mean, sure you're trying to market yourself. I'll be happy if people vote for my stories when I get around to posting one here but I don't want 'em to feel like they have to. Vote for 'em if they're good. Don't vote 'em if they're not. I'll do the same. Same with RTs or whatever. If something goes viral or gets to the top of a list great, but I won't hold anything against anyone either way. Anyway, great reading your stuff, man, and I'll see you around. Cheers.

Sorry Yoni, I had to vote. I disagree completely with what they're doing to little league baseball, and in Canada, they are doing the same to what we call Timbits Hockey. Kids need to learn to win AND lose. If not, they'll always feel entitled to success without the hard work. Therefore, I liked your article, I think it should be rewarded and read by others, so I'm voting. And I'm not voting because you vote for my article or because I typically vote for yours. If I don't like an article of yours, I won't reward it with a vote, but today, I'm voting.
