When creating a new business or taking an existing business to that next level, why not start by evaluating your life purpose and values. If you haven't yet developed these in written form, you may want to consult Steve Pavlina's article on the subject. Though creating a life purpose and values statement may seem like an overwhelming task, you may revise both every couple of years just to keep up with your life and where things are going. But the whole process can prove very helpful for the entrepreneur when figuring out the direction you hope to take while building your business. (And no, money/wealth need not be and probably shouldn't be at the top of your values list.)

Thanks so much for commenting. It's exciting that we can be empowered to change our lives. So many people give in to hopelessness because they believe they lack the skills to succeed at the things they truly want to do. But by realigning our values and life purpose to find out what we really want in life, whether in small business or in any other endeavor, many of these obstacles simply become unimportant. It's inspiring to understand that we can make these changes simply by understanding what we want and value.

Isn't it interesting how our values change as we age? Not to mention how much the world has changed (mostly for the better, in my view).
