Yes, scary and depressing. The scary part is that people who earn outrageous salaries like Tyson seem to always have the attitude that they are entitled because, after all, they EARNED it (like the rest of us don't, right?)!

Not to mention, all that cash for beating the crap out of someone, ...oh the irony of it all.
Just gotta keep on kicking I suppose.

I also think Adam summed up Tyson very well.

It's kind of like the people who win the lottery. Many end up in the gutter just a few years on.
In any case I LOVE the History Channel! Quality programming instead of the crap on most other networks.

1.- "A Fool and his Money are soon parted"
2.- two words: "Don King" (who made sure Mike blew it all so he'd need another fight.)

You are right. Trusted advisors are a hallmark of successful businesspeople. And Mike did a good job of surrounding himself with treacherous, dubious and criminal types.

From Wikipedia:
"Tyson declared bankruptcy in 2003, despite receiving over US$30 million for several of his fights and $300 million during his career...."
While on the American talk show The View in early May 2010, Tyson revealed that he is now forced to live paycheck to paycheck..."
He's also been convicted of rape and drug possession and has been married three times...
Why should his life make you depressed?
There are many people out there who have made a ton of money, who don't work half as hard as the average joe... But guess, what? Many of them also have a ton of problems that come along with all the fame and fortune.
Be happy instead with what you have... because in truth you have a lot- even if you must struggle to pay your bills and stay afloat :)

It's almost poetic-justice to see him go bankrupt. I think one of the most depressing aspects is to see such earning potential end up wasted. There could have been Mike Tyson Cancer Research Institutes and Tyson Childrens' Hospitals.
We all should be happy with out lot, we all, as you say, have so many reasons to be happy.

There is such disparity among the haves and have-nots. In the middle as you say are the working, many of whom are the "working-poor."

He even beat Judge Judy, who made $125M for 5 years ($25M a year) after her $40M for 4 year contract ran out (don't know what her 1st year was). She gets big bucks every time she shouts "I don't give a rat's behind...", or pounds her gavel. I'm guessing she's the highest paid judge in history (and I Adore her).

Such inequality. Pounding peoples' faces and pounding gavels. And tons of money.
