Mostly I learned that the full-time unionized employees focused more on making sure they took every second of break time due to them. Us temp students paid more attention to helping the patients.

"focused more on making sure they took every second of break time due to them" - the cold, hard truth. Indeed, temps are doing well because they most probably have the right reason to work - and experience, not money, is usually what drive temps.
