Twitter is well used by many. I would not go so far to say that it is the "most used" social media site for users. Twitter has plenty of competition among the other social media platforms.

That is a great question about what would happen to Twitter if they were acquired by Google. I don't foresee any real major changes that would happen to Twitter because it is already a well established social media platform.
Perhaps there would be minimal changes to Twitter and it would still function as it does now. There probably will be some minor tweaks to show that Google owns Twitter.
