Good, insightful review, Facundo.

The space references in the book may be fanciful - the Shuttle is going into mothballs, and the next wave of rocket engine is totally new - but not nuclear. It burns much hotter than the Sun, so the problem is containing the exhaust & protecting the ship from its own heat. The new engine uses electric power & magnetic containing fields to *channel* super-heated plasma out the exhaust: VASIMR. The goal: Mars - in 40 days!

*i.e. it's a "channel-ship"!

I've read so much about Micheals' book: 'Launch', the last couple days. I especially like the analogy of different types of fuel. That's from the book right? Who better to draw knowledge and inspiration from than soemone who hosts such a successful magazine blog!
